What does Falmadair do?
The main aim of the charity is to preserve the last remaining examples of traditional wooden fishing vessels from the north of the Isle of Lewis and keep them in use. To do this we maintain the vessels using traditional boatbuilding skills which we share with volunteers and guests. We aim to keep the vessels in use and regularly invite charity members and guests to join us sailing. We also work together with other local organisations to take part in a variety of activities such as historical re-enactments, gala/open days and cultural events.
